We had a Great experience staying at the Thunderbird Beach Motel in OC MD over Mother’s Day weekend, 2012. It has a perfect location for any beach bum! Only a few steps from a great beach, tasty restaurants, and surf shops the Thunderbird Beach Motel is a prime location spot for any OC trip. Checking into the room was super easy and the staff were all friendly, inviting, and helpful with all of our questions. Our room was clean and comfortable, with crisp bedding, A/C, a flat-screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, and best of all an abundance of hot water. Another great aspect of this hotel was the option of swimming in a pool for those who do not like the ocean. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find the hotel to be well taken care of for a 50+ year old building, and we were quite happy with the value of the Thunderbird. Comparable hotels were nearly twice the money. We didn’t need an ocean view or a balcony, so this place fit the bill just fine. Parking was ample, water was hot (quite hot if you want it to be!). There is a heated pool outside, which was also nice and clean. There always was some kind of staff on the premises (outside the office), which is nice should the need arise for any kind of assistance. The staff was quite pleasant and helpful as well.

After staying at the Thunderbird in August of 2010 with my two teenage daughters and having a really good experience, my wife and I decided to stay there in June (2011). Once again, the customer service and maid service was very good. The housekeeping staff is very friendly and even though we requested to not have maid service the two nights we stayed there because of our room not needing it, they made sure they offered us fresh towels and washcloths when they saw us coming out of our room before we went to the beach each day. The rooms during both stays were very clean and for the price and my budget, that was the most important thing for me. This is a very-well run motel despite some of the older reviews that were written during the motel’s previous management. We’re looking forward to our trip to the beach and our stay at the Thunderbird in a few weeks. 🙂

The Thunderbird is an older hotel, however it is maintained as expected. The rooms were fine for 2 adults and 2 children, clean, nice size fridge, compact microwave, TV, and small table. The staff was great and very courteous. Pool and parking area was clean and well maintained as well. Checkin and check out was fast and the staff responded well to questions. The hotel is centrally located with easy access to restaurants, activities, ocean, boardwalk, and shopping. The rates are great for budget minded families. Definitely worth vacationing at the Thunderbird.

I was there last week with my husband and we really enjoyed the place . IT IS CLEAN AND THE LOCATION IS GREAT just by the ocean. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO OTHER PEOPLE. THE workers are nice. I will come back again

The Thunderbird was a good place to stay, the room was decent and had a microwave, safe, and small refrigerator. Staff was courteous and immediately attentive to any needs. Excellent value for the money especially for a family on a budget. I would recommend to others and would stay at again.

Stayed in the Thunderbird in early June 2010 with a group of friends, I have to say that I am very surprised to see some of the earlier reviews. From a value standpoint this place cannot be beat, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the location is ideal for any OC visitor. Either the new management has seriously turned this place around or the earlier negative posts were from people who look for the cheap rates and expect the Ritz-Carlton. From my experience, you’re not gonna get a better bang for your buck! I will be back.

My husband, our two small children, my mother and myself recently spent four days at Ocean City, MD, and we stayed in the Thunderbird Beach Motel. Honestly, I have no complaints (except that the pillows were a bit lumpy, and the bed springs were a bit out of shape)! The prices were reasonable, and the accommodations, while basic, were clean and more than up to our standards.

Our room featured two double beds, a desk, a table with two chairs, a night stand, a small fridge with freezer compartment, a microwave, a safe and a bathroom, as well as plenty of lighting and a temperature-adjustable air conditioning unit.

Everything was clean and in full working order, the staff were friendly and were always on top of things in terms of housekeeping and keeping indoor and outdoor areas clean.

The motel also has a temperature regulated pool, which was accessible through one gate, whose latch was high up — perfect for keeping children out of the pool area, or in it. The pool was clean and pristine, as were the poolside chaises and tables.

Once we checked out, we were still able to access both the pool and restrooms that featured showers — quite handy once we were finished with our last jaunt to the beach!

Best of all was the close proximity to the beach — literally a 1-2 minute walk!

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially since we weren’t looking for a large, luxurious suite — just somewhere to sleep, eat and change! We would definitely make reservations again with the Thunderbird Beach Motel.
