First, let me start off by saying that Thunderbird Beach is one of the nicest motels my family and I have stayed at. We booked a week prior to our weekend trip (June 7-9, 2013) with the motel directly after doing some looking on Kayak.com. Thankfully I’ve come accustomed to also checking out the hotel/motel websites themselves because we saved money by booking direct and not through a 3rd party like Priceline or Expedia.

The Room – The rooms are not large, but it’s a motel…not a resort. With that being said, my family of 5 still had plenty of room to move around and not feel cramped at all. The linens were all clean and had a modern beachy look to them, which is nice compared to the normal drabby, might-as-well-be-from-the-70’s look that most motels sport. Gag. In the general, the room was very clean. The rooms also have flat screen tvs (w/ HBO) and free WiFi (You just have to call the front desk for the password). I was also pleased to see that our room came with 2 books(to be kept there)…a menu book and a guide to Ocean City. I understand that might not matter to most but when you’re traveling with 3 kids that can be quite impatient at times, it’s nice to know where you want to go and just go there. The books came in handy. The only downside to the whole room was the shower. The temperature level was hard to maintain, even for a short period of time. I think that part of this is due to the fact that even while the shower is running, the main tub faucet still runs (which is also just a waste of water). Besides that, the rooms were really nice.

Outside the Rooms – The pool is nice and the pool area was very clean. It’s open from 9a-9p. My kids were in a little late past closing time the one night. The maintenance who was going to lock up, came in and cleaned up while they were still swimming and left to do something else to give them a little more time since they were having fun. It was nice because he didn’t just boot us out of there like most places do. Normally closing time is closing time. The beach is easy to get to… literally less than 30 yards from the side of the building and the outside shower is on the side of the building so it’s right in your path on the way back. We had no problems with parking either. There are spaces in the front and extra spaces behind the motel. Lastly, the boardwalk is only 5 blocks south of the motel which is nice. The shops don’t start until a little further down but a little exercise never killed anyone.

Overall, our stay was good and I would recommend it to anyone(especially on a budget). I’m sure we will be returning to the Thunderbird Beach Motel again.

This was a great place to stay! The staff was beyond wonderful and the location to the beach was perfect, ( you only had to walk across an alley and there was a walkway that took you right onto the beach) The cost is very reasonable and well worth it. The rooms were average size and comfortably fit 4 of us with extra room. There Is a Karaoke Bar and a 7 eleven right across the street, and a bus stop right in front of the Motel. I would def recommend staying here if you are on a budget.

My friend and I were in Ocean City for a day, and decided to stay in town that night. After calling a few places, we called the Thunderbird and they had a room available for just the night. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. After check-in, we made it up to our room to find a very clean, surprisingly quiet room. It was Memorial day weekend, I was not expecting it to be so quiet. The room had everything we needed for our day (turned overnight) trip. I would recommend the Thunderbird to my friends and family after having a positive experience.

My husband & I love to visit Ocean City the weekend after Labor Day. The rates can’t be beat. The location is perfect, the staff helpful, the rooms clean and the best crab cakes in the city are within walking distance. What more could anyone ask for?

My best friend and I go on vacation together every year. This was the only place we returned to for a second time, as the Thunderbird Beach Motel has it all. Great room rates, nice refreshing pool, Keurig coffee available all the time, outdoor shower, excellent location, and most importantly, friendly and helpful staff. Special shout out to Brenda, who remembered us from last year and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, and who is the main reason we will be returning again next year. Problems, if any, are addressed immediately. Seems like the rooms are soundproof, as we slept soundly every night. Quietest room we ever stayed in. Beds seemed brand new and REALLY comfortable.

Lots of great restaurants nearby within walking distance, unlimited crabs, Italian, sub shops, pizza places, etc., we just didn’t have enought time to try them all!. We don’t bring children, but the kiddie amusement park, complete with carousel and ferris wheel, is right across the way. The beautiful beach is just yards from the hotel (and free!). The boardwalk tram that goes to the very end of the boardwalk and through all the amusements is just a short 5 block walk away, and a beautiful way to relax while seeing the sights and breathing in the fresh sea air.

I will be booking our next visit soon! I LOVE THIS PLACE!

We have been spending our weeks vacation at the Thunderbird for years now and we have always had a posotive experience..Our room was clean,and anything we needed was supplied. The staff were all courteous and friendly. We love the pool. allover we had a great week.

My friends and I decided to go to ocean city for Labor day. I left on Sunday, booked this motel from ochotels Sunday night. I never had to drive my car once during my vaction. It’s less than 10 blocks from the boardwalk, 20 blocks from Seacrets and the motel itself is nice, has a fridge, microwave, safe and free parking + swimming pool. The manager Austin even gave me a Triple A discount. There is no ocean view which is okay because most of the time you are not in the room anyway. I would stay there again.

We come to OC every year and stay at different places. We would stay here again. We are a couple so the room size was sufficient for us. The bathroom is small though for two people to get ready. Room offers a dorm size fridge and microwave. Pool was a great size and we never had an issue getting a chair. They even have 4 tables if you want to play cards. Very short walk to the beach. Few blocks from the boardwalk. Staff was very nice. Give it a try for the price it is worth it.

My family absolutely loves staying here. It’s a very short walk to the beach. The staff at the Thunderbird are always polite and willing to help us with our every need. Hotel appears to be very clean and well kept. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to have the ultimate beach experience.
